LACCS 2019-2020 Schedule and Information

Program Leaders:

Sessions combine guest speakers, workshops, best practices and experiences with ongoing reflection (both individual and with the whole group). There will also be dedicated time and coaching for your school to develop or refine a strategic character education plan.

Nov. 7,  4:30 - 7:30 pm - What is culture & climate?
Dec. 5, 8:30 am - 3:30 pm Site visit to State Schools of Character & 11 Principles of Character Education Framework
January 9,  4:30 - 7:30 pm - Service Learning - Going beyond civic projects
Feb. 6, 8:30 am - 3:30 pm - Restorative Practices
Mar 5,  4:30 - 7:30 pm Culturally Responsive Teaching & the Brain
Apr. 2, 8:30 am - 3:30 pm - Guest Speaker TBA
May 7,  4:30 - 7:30 pm Graduation
June, 2019, 8 am - 4 pm Character Education Conference - (included at no charge for all LACCS participants)

On-site consultations will be conducted by the LACCS Leaders. Consultations to occur 1-2 times during school year. Possible visit months are: January, February, and March 2020.

Check back in late May for more detailed session information. Guest speakers are chosen based on feedback from participants and projected needs of each learning community. In the past, sessions have included national speakers on leadership, moral and performance character development, relationships, restorative practices, mindfulness, trauma-informed practices, service learning, culturally responsive practices, and other social emotional learning topics.
