Are you interested in acquiring scientific research skills and exploring careers in biology? We have designed our cosmetic science major to prepare students like you for careers in the cosmetic industry or in consumer safety as well as to go onto medical or pharmacy school. No matter the path you choose, you’ll have the knowledge and skills to thrive!
The Alverno difference
Alverno offers one of the only undergraduate cosmetic science programs in the United States. This unique program will get you ready for graduate studies, to work as a cosmetic laboratory technician or product developer, to pursue cosmetic sales or research and development, or to serve as a government consumer safety officer.
As a women’s college that offers small class sizes, our emphasis is on you – your education and your empowerment. You’ll receive the individual attention and personalized feedback to help you learn and grow. You’ll develop close bonds with faculty and classmates, who will challenge and encourage you.
Hands-on learning and professional experiences are woven into our curriculum. On campus, you can work as a paid lab assistant or tutor and participate in faculty-student research projects. Off campus, you will complete an internship. You can also share your research at conferences.
As an Alverno cosmetic science student, you will learn to:
Explain the biology of many events that surround you and show the limits of science
Use literature, math, and master computer skills to collect and explain biological information
Design, execute and explain biological experiments
Apply concepts of biology to cosmetic science
Proudly serve your community and work as a professional
