DEMSN Admission Requirements
Applicants to the Direct Entry MSN Program must hold a bachelor’s degree in a field other than nursing from a regionally accredited college or university approved by the U.S Department of Education. Applicants who need an F?1 student visa to study in the United States are not eligible to apply to this program.
Applicants must provide:
- A completed NursingCAS application
- Official transcripts of all previous college work; cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 is preferred
- Personal Statement (required)
- A completed health form and physical, evidence of a health check, and a background check. In addition, completion of the American Heart Association Basic Life Support Training for Health Care Professionals within three months prior to admission; uploaded evidence to CastleBranch.
Admissions decisions are based on a holistic evaluation of each applicant’s qualifications and materials.
Prerequisite Courses
Students need a foundation of science and mathematics knowledge in order to succeed in the DEMSN program. The following prerequisites must be completed with a grade of “C” or better at the undergraduate or graduate level of education within seven years of entry to the program:
- Abnormal Psychology (3 credits)
- Chemistry or Biochemistry (3 credits)
- Developmental Psychology (3 credits)
- Human Anatomy and Physiology I (with lab component; 4 credits)
- Human Anatomy and Physiology II (with lab component; 4 credits)
- Microbiology (with a lab component; 3 credits)
- Statistics Prerequisite: Prior completion of an approved undergraduate or graduate level inferential statistics course (3 credits)
Prospective students may apply before completing all prerequisites, but all prerequisite courses must be completed before starting the program.
