Safety Services

Campus Safety assists the Alverno community with safety concerns, access issues, lost belongings, safety education and more.

Blue Light Phones connect you directly with the Campus Safety officer on duty for emergency and non-emergency assistance, including directions, vehicle assistance, medical emergencies and reporting crimes or suspicious activity.

Look for phones marked by blue lights in the parking structure, west-side parking areas and south of the fieldhouse near the soccer field.

How to use a Blue Light Phone

Press the red talk button and describe the assistance you need. If you cannot speak, press the button so the officer can hear what is happening and begin checking the area. The call disconnects automatically when finished.

Campus Safety assists with building or room lockouts, key requests and ID card door access. Report lost keys or IDs to Campus Safety as soon as possible. Report problems with doors, locks or card access to Campus Safety.

Campus SafeWalk provides escorts to or from buildings and vehicles. Campus Safety also provides requested walks on campus or to pre-approved nearby locations.

Turn in found items to any Campus Safety Officer, a dispatcher at the Sr. Joel Read Info Center Desk, or the Campus Safety office in Founders Hall (FO) 254.

Items are logged and stored for 30 days. Unclaimed items may then be donated or destroyed. Campus Safety contacts individuals by Alverno email or phone when an item contains identification.

Campus Safety encourages you to mark belongings with your name or other identifying information. Through Operation ID, the department provides an engraver and paperwork for marking and documenting personal property. An engraver is also available in Austin Hall for residents.
