U.S. News & World Report Recognizes Alverno for Social Mobility
Alverno College has been recognized as a top performer in social mobility by U.S. News & World Report in its 2027 Best Colleges rankings, earning the No. 7 spot among Midwest Regional Universities.
The recognition highlights Alverno’s commitment to helping students from all backgrounds achieve their educational and professional goals. The social mobility ranking measures how well colleges graduate students who receive federal Pell Grants, which are awarded primarily to students from lower-income households.
Among Wisconsin colleges and universities included in the social mobility category, Alverno ranked third highest.
In a new ranking of the top private colleges, Alverno ranked among the top 44% of private colleges in the Midwest Regional Universities category.

Now in its 42nd year, U.S. News & World Report’s Best Colleges rankings evaluate more than 1,700 U.S. colleges and universities, using up to 17 measures of academic quality and graduate success.
