Join us for an interactive celebration of storytelling! This conference is presented in partnership with Ex Fabula, a nonprofit that
connects Milwaukee through real stories. The program will be presented twice both in-person in the afternoon and virtually in the evening.
Stories preserve culture, foster connection, and help us to reflect and make meaning. Effectively told personal stories can help us to inform, influence, connect, advocate, and heal. Come to
listen, connect with others, and build your storytelling skill and confidence!
What to Expect
First, we will gather for an interactive keynote that features some example stories, including one from Alexis Outlaw, Ex Fabula Board President and Alverno alum! The session will include tips for creating Brave Spaces for storytelling and for leveraging stories in a variety of personal and professional contexts. Attendees will also have the chance to practice sharing stories – via brief, written UltraShorts.
Then, we will move into interactive workshops, where attendees will discover, shape, and share their personal stories. Ex Fabula storytelling coaches will facilitate a series of low-pressure, interactive activities that build on the concepts introduced in the keynote.
Cost
Alverno faculty, staff, students and alums: Free
Community members: $35 for in-person program or $25 for virtual evening program
