BIOGRAPHY
Theresa Boehm Marsicek is an assistant professor in the graduate reading program at Alverno College, where she has taught since 2013. A passionate literacy educator, she founded the Milwaukee Literacy Cooperative in 2017.
Before coming to Alverno, Marsicek was a reading interventionist at E. W. Luther Elementary in South Milwaukee. She also spent ten years at Messmer Catholic Schools, teaching four-year-old kindergarten and serving as a reading specialist. Additionally, she spent a year teaching second and third grade English in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Marsicek earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Wisconsin - Madison, her Master of Arts in Reading Education from Alverno College, and her doctorate in Literacy from St. John’s University in New York City. She is a member of the Wisconsin State Reading Association and Reading Recovery Council of North America.
