Sandra Siira has been named executive director of the Career and Professional Development Center at Alverno College. Siira, who is a proud Alverno alumna, begins January 29. As executive director, she will play a key role in preparing students for competitive futures as part of the college's strategic plan.

Alverno's Career and Professional Development Center provides career planning and job search assistance to students, including resume and cover letter review and interview preparation. It also coordinates regular networking and on-campus recruiting events with employers, oversees the internship program, and offers graduate school planning.

Siira has extensive experience in higher education as well as the corporate world, most recently serving as the director of human resources at Carthage College. Prior to Carthage, she served as the director of human resources at Mount Mary University where she led the transformation of the human resources function in support of the university's Creative Campus Initiative.

Siira also held director roles in human resources at FedEx, Allen-Edmonds Shoe Corporation and Magnetek, Inc. She graduated from Alverno with her Bachelor of Arts in Business & Management and Professional Communication, and she earned a Master of Human Resources and Labor Relations from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee.
