Alverno Forum Will Explore Truth in Health Care
Alverno College is hosting a forum on truth in health care. Often times people are given information by their health care provider that is unclear, not straightforward, insensitive, disrespectful, or not spoken in the patient's first language.
This program will bring health care providers and consumers together in order to understand the moral and legal dimensions of truth telling in health care. Raising awareness about this issue empowers consumers to make meaningful decisions about their care, and encourages respectful interactions between providers and patients. Understanding on both sides promotes human dignity and supports both quality of life and peace of mind.
Panelists include:
- Alyson Capp, Ph.D.(c), clinical ethicist at Aurora Health Care
- Steven Dunn, Ph.D., an assistant professor of Religious Studies at Alverno College and former hospice and hospital chaplain
- Lee Ann Rogga, RN, MSN
- Brian Rogga, JD, offering a family's perspective on patient care
- Donna Engelmann, Ph.D., professor emerita of Philosophy at Alverno College, will serve as moderator
