Alverno College Announces Faculty Promotions for 2023
It is with great pride that Alverno College announces the recent promotions of our esteemed faculty.
Amal El-Sheikh, PhD, has been promoted to professor of biology. El-Sheikh earned a Doctor of Medicine in Anesthesiology from the Moscow Academy of Medicine, and her Master of Science in Microbiology and a PhD in Microbiology from the University of Louisville. She has taught at Alverno since 2010.
Linda Olszewski, DBA, has been promoted to professor of business. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Business and her MBA from Alverno, and her Doctor of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater. She has taught at Alverno since 2010.
Tracy Stockwell, PhD, has been promoted to professor of communication. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Professional Communication and Business Management from Alverno College. She earned her Master of Arts in Rhetoric and her PhD in Rhetorical Communication and Leadership from Marquette University. Stockwell has taught at Alverno since 1997.
Randa Suleiman, PhD, has been promoted to professor of education. She earned her Bachelor of Dental Oral Surgery from the University of Jordan in Amman. She earned a Master of Arts in Urban Education from Alverno College, and a PhD in Leadership for the Advancement of Learning and Service in Higher Education from Cardinal Stritch University. She has taught at Alverno since 2016.
Rob Collier, DMA, has been promoted to associate professor of music. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music Technology from Bellarmine University in Louisville, Ky., a Master of Music in Music Theory and Composition from the University of Louisville, and a Doctor of Musical Arts in Composition from the University of Maryland. Collier has taught at Alverno since 2017.
Anna Haney, MFA, has been promoted to associate professor of dance. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Dance and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary/Middle School Education from the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater, a Master of Arts in Education from Alverno College, and a Master of Fine Arts in Dance from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. She has taught at Alverno since 2018.
Teri Boehm Marsicek, PhD, has been promoted to associate professor of education. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Wisconsin - Madison, her Master of Arts in Reading Education from Alverno College, and her PhD in Literacy from St. John’s University in New York City. She has taught at Alverno since 2013.
Tom Reed, MFA, has been promoted to associate professor of theatre. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va., and his Master of Fine Arts in Acting from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He has taught at Alverno since 2004.
Luci Staudacher, MSW, LCSW, has been promoted to associate professor of social work. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from Mount Mary University, double majoring in Social Work and Behavioral Science. She earned her Master of Social Work from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee with a concentration in child and family welfare. She has taught at Alverno since 2018.
Thor Stolen, PhD, has been promoted to associate professor of education. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. He earned his Master of Arts in Special Education from Cardinal Stritch University, and his PhD in Exceptional Education from UWM. He has taught at Alverno since 2018.
Sharyn Warren, EdD, EdS, has been promoted to associate professor of business. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Business Management/Communication from Concordia University Wisconsin. She earned her Master of Science in Management from the University of Maryland University College Global Campus, and her EdS in Higher Education and Adult Learning from Walden University in Baltimore. She earned her EdD in Leadership from Alverno College, where she has taught since 2012.
Judy Calhoun, PhD has been promoted to professor emerita of chemistry. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from North Carolina State in Raleigh, and a PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She has taught at Alverno since 2003.
Valli Sternig, MSN, has been promoted to professor emerita of nursing. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, and has taught at Alverno since 1998.
