Accommodated and makeup assessments

The Assessment Center in RC 114 provides a quiet environment for students to take assessments. It features a general room for multiple students to test simultaneously with minimal distractions and private rooms for students with documented needs that require complete focus or read-aloud services. Students use the Assessment Center for:

  • Official accommodations
  • Makeup assessments arranged with instructors
  • When they cannot complete assessments during regular class time

How to set up an assessment in the AC

  • Email or speak with your instructor to make the request. Your instructor must share assessment materials and instructions with the AC before an appointment can be scheduled. Please try to schedule your assessment at least three business days in advance.
  • Once your instructor has submitted the materials, you may schedule your appointment by email (assessmentcenter@alverno.edu), phone call (414-382-6020) or by stopping by the Assessment Center in RC114.

What should I do when I come to assess?

  • Check in with an official ID (Alverno or state-issued IDs are acceptable).
  • Power off and hand in your tech (phones, smart watches, etc.). No tech beyond what is listed in the instructor's directions will ne allowed in the assessment room. We will secure your belongings behind the main desk or provide cabinet storage until you are finished.
  • Begin your assessment. You will be seated in an appropriate assessment space for the time allotted by your instructor. Your assessment will be completed in one appointment unless your instructor has indicated otherwise.
  • Turn in your assessment. Once finished, you will bring assessment materials to AC staff. We will distribute your completed assessment and all related materials to your instructor by the end of the day.

What else can I do in the AC?

  • Take a Credit for Prior Learning bypass assessment in order to earn credits for some introductory courses if you have received an invitation to do so
  • Arrange a private room for assessments that are external to class, such as the AC-151 Social Interaction assessment, which is required of all first-semester students
  • Once you graduate, you can train alongside area professionals through Alverno's Volunteer Assessor Program to assist instructors in providing feedback to students during the assessment
