At Alverno College, Professional and Faculty Advisors work with all students to help them to understand Alverno’s unique ability-based curriculum, their specific program of study and the resources/tools needed to manage/support their academic journey.
Professional Academic Advisors – are based in the Advising Office and work with new Weekday College undergraduate students during their first one to four semesters. They also advise all students in the Weekend College program.
Promise Scholar Advisors – are based in the Advising Office and work with specific Weekday College undergraduate students who are part of the Promise Scholar program. Promise Scholar Advisors work with their advisees through graduation.
Faculty Advisors – are based in their respective academic school/division/department. All Weekday College undergraduate students are transitioned from a Professional Academic Advisor to a Faculty Advisor(s) in their major area of study once they have reached a specific level in their program. Students in Alverno’s Degree Completion and Graduate programs are also advised by a faculty member. Several weekday programs also provide dual advisory.
Dual Advising – Students in Alverno’s Adult Evening & Online program are advised by both a Professional Academic Advisor and a Faculty Advisor in their major.
The Academic Advising Office is located in FO 121 and is staffed by five full-time Professional Advisors, two Promise Scholar Advisors, two Administrative Assistants and a Student employee.
In addition to working with all students to help them to understand Alverno’s unique ability-based curriculum, their specific program of study and the resources/tools needed to manage/support their academic journey, the Professional Academic Advisors and Advising Office staff also:
