Instructional Services provides a variety of academic assistance through several resources including:
- Study groups
- Resource centers
- Peer tutoring
- Professional tutoring
Study groups are established at the request of the course instructor and offer students the opportunity to review course content with their peers as they are guided by a specially-trained study group monitor.
Three resource centers are available to provide specialized assistance during scheduled hours:
- The Communication Resource Center (CRC) provides writing and speaking assistance
- The Daniel M Soref Science and Mathematics Resource Center (Soref Center) offers math and science support
- The Academic Nursing Resource Center (ANRC) serves students enrolled in nursing coursework
Individualized assistance is arranged based on instructor or advisor referral. Peer tutoring is reserved for those students with accommodations and other exceptional situations, including for those courses not supported by study groups or resource centers. Specially-trained academic assistants, who have been nominated by faculty, provide the assistance. Arrangements may be one-on-one or in small groups.
