Humanity and Dignity in the Age of AI - A Community Conversation on the 2026 Papal Encyclical

Join us for a free community discussion of Pope Leo XIV’s first encyclical, titled Magnifica Humanitas: On Safeguarding the Human Person in the Time of Artificial Intelligence.
As technology reshapes how we learn, work, communicate and make decisions, this gathering will explore a question at the heart of the moment: What does it mean to be human, together, in a time of great technological change?
Read one paragraph, read the full document or simply come ready to listen and share what is on your mind and heart.
Through guided reflection, small group conversation and a community discussion, we will consider how faith, human dignity and shared responsibility can shape the role technology plays in our lives.
The discussion will be led by Désirée Pointer Mace, PhD, Dean of the School of Liberal Arts and Professional Studies, Steven Dunn, PhD, Professor of Religious Studies and Campus Minister, and Donna Engelmann, Professor Emerita of Philosophy.
Light refreshments will be provided. All are welcome.
