Diana Johnstone, MSW, LCSW is an Assistant Professor of Social Work and Director of Field Education at Alverno College. She brings over 20 years of clinical social work experience in Milwaukee, with expertise in outpatient, school-based, and community mental health, psychiatric crisis intervention, trauma treatment, inpatient social work, clinical social work supervision and consultation. Her professional practice and teaching focus on trauma-informed, evidence-based interventions; field education; clinical supervision; social justice; systems change; and the prevention of violence against women and children. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Wisconsin and holds advanced training in EMDR and Brainspotting. Diana earned a BA in Psychology from Macalester College and an MSW from the University of St. Thomas and the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, MN.

Diana has delivered professional presentations locally and through the National Association of Social Workers–Wisconsin Chapter, with a focus on ethical practice, reflective learning, and social responsibility. Her community leadership includes service with the Milwaukee Commission on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, including as Co-Chair of the Sexual Assault Committee, and the development of healing-centered, community-based initiatives for youth survivors of sexual trauma. Through ongoing volunteer engagement, she remains committed to experiential learning, civic participation, and the promotion of human dignity and social justice.
