Coaching for Excellence Digital Badge and Certificate Program

FALL 2023 INFORMATION

Do you want to transform your impact as a leader?
Many of us say we do, but find it very difficult to manage on our own. We get lost in the hundreds of books on leadership, we attend expensive training without implementing the learning, we strive for external metrics of impact like job title and number of direct reports.

What if transforming your impact was less about what you do and more about how you do it?
Adopting a coach approach to leading (whether it’s for yourself, leading projects or a team) can change everything. Coaching is individualized, asset-based, customizable, action-oriented and ensures you get better every day.

This course is designed for you to develop the leadership dispositions and competencies to transform your impact through coaching. Imagine being able to unleash and expand your own potential and the potential of others around you. You can do this with the powers of active listening, posing empowering questions, synthesizing and leading toward action - just some of the skills you’ll learn in this two-year certificate program.

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

INTRODUCTION TO COACHING

In this course, you will engage with the foundational standards and elements of transformative coaching. You will build a knowledge base of various coaching approaches, holistic coaching competencies and ethical standards coaches hold. You will leverage this knowledge to create a vision for the impact you want to have through coaching and practice core skills to begin transforming your leadership.

THE COACH APPROACH

With a foundation of coaching knowledge in place, this course will invite you into deeper practice of core coaching competencies: Setting the foundation for coaching, co-creating coaching relationships, communicating effectively and facilitating learning and results (as outlined by the International Coaching Federation and influenced by the DPI's Coaching Competency Practice Profile).

COACHING & TEAMS

In this course you will focus on how the coach approach can enhance team-settings, whether through managing teams, managing collaborative projects or facilitating learning experiences. You will also engage deeply with the topics of equity and inclusion as you reflect on how a coach approach can support you in leading spaces where all can belong and thrive.

COACHING & LEADERSHIP

In this course you will have the opportunity to interrogate the intersections and dynamics between leading and coaching while applying lessons to your own leadership. You will be supported to engage in an 8-week coaching cycle with a client of your own. If completing the Coaching For Excellence Certificate, you will engage in reflective exercises on your personal growth and impact.
