  • A community member looking to support Latina-owned small businesses.

The program will include information on financial aid, what it is like to be an Alverno student, and a Q&A. The entire program will be in Spanish.

A Hispanic-Serving Institution

Alverno is proud to be the first Hispanic-Serving Institution in Wisconsin. HSIs are defined as having a full-time student population that is at least 25% Hispanic. When we first became an HSI in 2017, Hispanic students accounted for 27% of our Alverno Strong family.

As an HSI, Alverno has access to additional federal grants to fund programs and services focused on student success, including our forthcoming campus greenhouse.

Alverno students, regardless of race or ethnicity, have access to private scholarships that are available to students of an HSI.

Student and Family Resources

Alverno is dedicated to student success and to ensuring a positive experience for students and their families, from the beginning of the college search through graduation.

Ready for What's Next

When it comes to choosing a college, don't you want to be certain? Certain that you’ll belong and thrive. Certain that you’ll build the skills and knowledge to achieve your goals. Certain that whatever your next step, you’ll be ready. That’s what Alverno College is all about.

Just ask Sarah and Teresita, 2017 graduates who were hired by their internship sites.

In just a few years, Sarah (above) has managed to go from being a corporate communications intern at Johnson Controls to a community involvement and engagement specialist. She credits Alverno’s emphasis on the 8 Abilities and having hands-on experience for allowing her to develop the courage to take on new opportunities in her college career as well as in her professional and personal life.

“I would say first and foremost [the most important thing] is the courage that I learned, and I learned it real hard and real fast right away at Alverno,” she says.

During her sophomore year, Teresita (above) began to understand the importance of making the right connections and having courage. While working toward earning her accounting degree, a professor recognized her natural ability. Because of his recommendation and personal connection to Fiserv, Teresita was able to connect with the hiring manager and procure the accounting internship. Today, she is a senior financial analyst there.

“I definitely see a lot of what I learned at Alverno with the 8 Abilities, and am still applying at my current job and in my personal life as well,” Teresita says.
