Erica M. LaForte, PhD

Erica M. LaForte is an applied psychometrician with over 30 years of experience in the field of clinical test development. She is a co-author of the Woodcock-Johnson V. She received a BS in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, an MA in Research Methodology from Loyola University–Chicago and a PhD in Educational Psychology from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her interests include the application of the Rasch model to test development, score interpretation and validation; computer adaptive testing; test score equating and linking; and the application of psychometric principles to solve practical measurement challenges. She has worked in various research and development capacities on three editions of the Woodcock-Johnson and several ancillary products, including the Woodcock-Muñoz Language Survey III and the Batería Woodcock-Muñoz IV, and served as a contributing author on the Woodcock-Johnson IV Technical Manual. In her former role at Northwestern University, she served on the scientific team for the NIH Toolbox, a battery of iPad-administered neuropsychological assessments.
