A Wellness Message from the President
The phrase in Sanctitate et Doctrina – in holiness and learning – is incorporated into the Alverno College seal and represents the College’s commitment to the total person in wholeness and health. Here at Alverno College, we strive to be a campus that supports and promotes wellness because it builds a happier, more productive and satisfied campus community.
When I arrived at Alverno College, I identified wellness as a top priority on campus; adding this initiative to the College’s Strategic Plan, creating a Wellness Committee comprised of volunteer employees and ensuring the financial support essential to achieving results. While these efforts were necessary for a successful wellness program, Alverno College is a healthier community because the students, faculty and staff have enthusiastically embraced and participated in the various wellness offerings on campus.
From being the first campus in Wisconsin to become completely tobacco free to popular fitness and wellness classes for students, faculty and staff to a dining services team who is excited to assist students in improving their eating habits and dietary selections, Alverno College works hard to be a healthy college community. And people are taking note too – The Daily Beast and Cosmopolitan ranked Alverno as one of the top healthiest colleges in America.
We don’t do it for the rankings; we do it because it is the right thing to do for our students, faculty and staff. We do it because we are committed to the total person, in wholeness and health.
In Sanctitate et Doctrina.
