Staff and Faculty Benefits

Alverno College offers a comprehensive benefits package to staff and faculty employees who work at least 20 hours per week and 1,000 hours per year. Insurance coverage is not automatic - employees must complete an enrollment form to enroll in the benefit. Wellness begins with taking good care of yourself and utilizing preventive care benefits. Early discovery of health issues affects the treatment and long-term outcome. Our medical plan includes preventive benefits such as physical exams, mammograms, PSA testing, and immunizations. Regular dental examinations and cleanings keep your teeth and mouth healthy. And don't forget to take good care of your vision.

Benefit-eligible employees also have an opportunity to participate in income protection plans such as short-term disability, long-term disability, accidental death and dismemberment, and life insurance.  In addition, employees can participate in our flexible spending plans and set aside pre-tax dollars to pay for health care and dependent care expenses not covered by other employee benefit plans.

Alverno College also provides all employees access to our employee assistance program (EAP). The program offers help and resources with a variety of issues including emotional stress, substance abuse problems, legal problems, family/marital concerns, etc. and is available to employees and their immediate family members 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  The service is free of charge to employees, and confidential to the limits of the law.

Alverno College has established a 403(b) savings plan to provide employees the potential for future financial security in retirement. Our 403(b) plan allows employees to reduce taxable income by allowing pre-tax salary deferrals; to take advantage of the College’s additional contribution to the employee's account; defer taxes on all growth of investments; and provides an easy, systematic way of saving for retirement.
