LACCS 2017-2018 Schedule and Information

Program Leaders:

Margaret Tackes, EdD; Daniel Tackes, MS; Nancy Athanasiou, EdD; Julie Borgealt, MS

Sessions combine guest speakers, workshops, best practices and experiences with ongoing reflection (both individual and with the whole group). There will also be dedicated time and coaching for your school to develop or refine a strategic character education plan.

NEW Kick-off Date:

August 17, 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
This year's kick-off includes a workshop featuring national speaker, Ty Sells, and a program overview.

Session dates and tentative topics:

September 21, 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.  - National Speaker, Phil Vincent
October 25, 4:30 - 7:30 p.m. - 11 Principles of Character Education 
November 30, 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. -  Mindfulness & Trauma-informed instruction
January 11, 2018 - Site Visit to State School of Character (Times TBD)
February 1, 4:30 - 7:30 p.m. - Service Learning
March 1, 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. - Character Education in the Digital World
April 12, 4:30 - 7:30 p.m. - Restorative Justice
May 10, 4:30 - 7:30 p.m. - Year-end Reflections, Poster Session and Graduation

On-site consultations will be conducted by the LACCS Leaders. Consultations to occur 1-2 times during school year. Possible visit months are: January, February, and March 2018.

Additional Program Opportunity:

June 2018 Character Education Conference - (included at no charge for all LACCS participants)

Graduation: May 10, 2018
