How should employees report an absence during the coronavirus outbreak?

  • As usual, employees are expected to call their supervisor prior to their scheduled start time if they are going to be absent because of illness. Once the supervisor is contacted regarding the illness-related absence, the employee must contact Human Resources for appropriate follow-up. HR will review the specific circumstances and discuss options regarding paid time off and/or working remotely. HR information is available on Alverno's Intranet.

What if an employee recently returned from visiting a country designated as having high risk for COVID-19 transmission or has been exposed to someone ill with the virus?

  • Follow the guidelines of the Centers for Disease Control for self-isolating. As a resource, contact Human Resources if you feel you’ve been exposed. Upon consulting with the offices of Counseling and Health Services, Human Resources may require that the employee wait the maximum incubation period of the virus, thought to be 14 days, before returning to the campus. How can I access campus?
