Call for Proposals

On March 16, 2018, the annual Alverno Community Conference will focus on the ideas surrounding our theme, What is Truth? We pose this question as one that is broad as well as complex. We invite you to submit a proposal that will help us explore this topic from multiples disciplines and perspectives. We are looking for presentations that are: relevant, offer world views, challenge social constructs or perceived truths, question ownership of truth, encourage dialogue and engage a diverse audience.

The deadline to submit proposals is Nov. 10, 2017. Please download, complete and submit the Alverno Community Conference Proposal Form.

Dr. Anne C. Bailey will be the keynote speaker for this year's annual community conference. She is a writer, historian, and a tenured professor of History and Africana Studies at SUNY Binghamton (State University of New York).

Dr. Bailey is committed to a concept of “living history” in which events of the past are connected to current and contemporary issues. She is also concerned with the reconciliation of communities after conflicts like slavery, war and genocide. In her work, she combines the elements of travel, adventure, history, and an understanding of contemporary issues with an accessible style. (Click here to see Dr. Bailey's full biography.)

Registration

Registration begins Jan. 10, 2018. The event is free for Alverno students, faculty, staff and alumnae. The registration fee for community members is $25.
