Broad Field Social Studies (Education)
Broad field social studies is an excellent major for education students planning to teach in the social studies field. The Broad field social studies field consists of a major in either history or social science, with additional coursework in social studies.
If you plan to teach social studies in the middle and high school levels, this is the major for you. You will study human behavior and its impact on our world over the course of history. This area of study will provide you with Wisconsin Department of Instruction certification in social studies education, along with multiple endorsements and teaching specializations.
If you are earning a bachelor's degree and intend to seek state certification, you will take Secondary Education as a minor in conjunction with your broad field social studies major.
Additional coursework would include courses in psychology, economics, history and social science.
