Carole Barrowman teaches creative writing and a variety of humanities courses. She has written nine books, including the acclaimed middle-grade trilogy, Hollow Earth (Simon & Schuster), a YA series, and comics for DC Comics, Titan Comics, and Legendary. Carole was born and raised in Scotland so she’s a wee bit cheeky.
Mimi Czarnik, Ph.D in Victorian Studies, teaches courses on fairy tales, grammar, world film, and British literature. She advises students working toward certification in secondary education. Recently, Mimi designed, staffed, and ran a two-year after-school program for MPS students focused on improving students’ preparation in math and reading.
Jon Little, Ph.D. in American Literature, teaches courses in world literature, film, American literature, creative writing, graphic novels, anime and manga, and the Health Humanities. He is currently very interested in a new way of looking at literature and writing in terms of its potential therapeutic benefits, i.e. “bibliotherapy.”
Robert O’Brien Hokanson teaches courses in American literature, literary criticism, and African-American literature as well as communication ability and Humanities courses. As chair of Alverno’s Communication Ability Department, Bob is especially interested in helping students develop their writing and other communication skills.
