As an Alverno sociology student, you will study human social relationships and institutions. You’ll explore such diverse topics as family and social movements, as well as race, gender, and social class. Ultimately, you’ll come to understand how human action and consciousness shape our culture and, in turn, how we are shaped by that culture.
THE ALVERNO DIFFERENCE
All Alverno sociology classes are small and give you time to get to know your peers and instructors as well as to dive into engaging discussions. You’ll explore different perspectives, learn how to analyze information, form opinions and express them with evidence. Above all, you’ll get the attention and support that will help you thrive.
At Alverno, you can direct your learning by choosing electives and projects to focus on the topics you’re passionate about. You will gain hands-on experience and make key connections in your field through internships, by attending networking events and joining student organizations.
Our students are highly sought-after by employers. You’ll impress not only with your sophisticated communication style but also with your high level of analysis and advanced critical thinking – all part of Alverno’s strong ability-based curriculum. These are the skills that will get you ready for success.
