Lisa Cathelyn is the director of Campus Ministry at Alverno College, a role she took on in the summer of 2018. Alverno College Campus Ministry fosters the spiritual growth of students, faculty and staff in a myriad of ways, including communal prayer and liturgies, service and social justice education, retreats, and spiritual conversations. She will be leading the college’s commitment to its Franciscan, Catholic identity and offer occasions for members of the campus community to express and explore their faith, welcoming and accompanying persons of all faith traditions.
Cathelyn brings a number of ministerial experiences to the college including liturgy preparation and presiding, designing and leading Scripture studies, and bilingual prison ministry. She also has extensive international immersion experience including a semester in El Salvador, teaching English in Vietnam, and contextual coursework in Israel-Palestine. Cathelyn has received training in spiritual direction and trauma-informed pastoral care.
Cathelyn earned her bachelor’s degree in Arts, Spanish Language & Literature from Marquette University and her Master of Divinity from the Jesuit School of Theology of Santa Clara University in Berkeley, California. She holds a certificate in Women’s Studies in Religion from the Graduate Theological Union.
