Kathy Lake is a professor of Education at Alverno College where she has taught since 1986. She has served in numerous roles at the college including acting vice president for Academic Affairs, vice president for student success, chair of Education and Spanish Language and Cultures division. She also holds several teaching licenses.
Prior to coming to Alverno, Lake taught at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, while completing her doctorate degree. She also worked for Ebenezer Child Care Center, Racine Unified Schools, Grand Rapids (Mich.) Public Schools, Bethany Christian Services, and served as a summer school primary special education teacher in the Wauwatosa School District.
Lake earned her Bachelor of Science in Social Relations, Elementary and Exceptional Education from Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan. She earned her Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction and her Ph.D. in Urban Education and Leadership from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. She is licensed to teach Pre-K - eighth grade regular education, Pre-K - 12th grade emotional behavioral disorders, and early childhood exceptional education. She is a member of the American Association of Colleges of Teacher Education, the Wisconsin Association of Colleges of Teacher Education, and the Association of Independent Liberal Arts Colleges of Teacher Education.
