Dan Matre is an assistant professor in the Business Division of the School of Professional Studies at Alverno. Matre develops and teaches a number of undergraduate business courses including Small Business Management, Global Marketing, Advertising, Promotion and Professional Selling.
Matre has been a frequent guest speaker at the University of Cincinnati, Mount Mary University, MSOE, UWM Sheldon B. Lubar School of Business and Alverno College. Serving as an adjunct faculty member, he has also taught undergraduate courses at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, UWM Peck School of the Arts and UWM School of Business. He is also an Honorary Professor at Nguyen Tat Thanh University located in Ho Cho Minh City, Viet Nam.
Prior to coming to Alverno, Matre held a number of design and management positions at 3M Company, Brooks Stevens Associates and Harley-Davidson Motor Company. From 1985 to 2002, he founded and operated Matre Design, Inc. which specialized in design research, industrial design and mechanical engineering. His clients included international companies such as Briggs & Stratton, Case/New Holland, Kohler, Master Lock, GE Medical Systems, SC Johnson, Toro and Harley-Davidson Motor Company. During this time, he contributed to the vehicle styling of the Buell RS1200 motorcycle, and the production vehicle was recognized by the Guggenheim Museum of Art. Matre also has personal work on permanent display at the Harley-Davidson Museum in Milwaukee.
Matre was awarded his Bachelor of Science in Design from the University of Cincinnati, College of DAAP, and earned his Master of Business Administration from the Executive MBA program at UW Milwaukee, Sheldon B. Lubar School of Business.
