Patricia Bowne, Ph.D.

Dr. Bowne received Bachelor's degrees in biology and in humanities from Edinboro State College, a Master's in marine biology from the University of Miami, and a Ph.D. in zoology from the University of Alberta. At Alverno, she specializes in pathophysiology, physiology, and philosophy of science.

Rebecca Burton, Ph.D.

Dr. Burton teaches animal behavior, ecology, zoology, environmental science, and introductory biology. Her primary interests are in behavioral ecology and her current research is on the effectiveness of textbooks in teaching biological concepts. Becky received her B.S. from The Evergreen State College, her M.A. in zoology from the University of Montana, and her doctorate in ecology from Kansas State University. Her postdoc was at the National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis.

Justin LaManna, Ph.D.
Professor, Biology
justin.lamanna@alverno.edu
Dr. LaManna teaches anatomy & physiology and pathophysiology. He received his PhD in Environmental Biology from the University of Louisville in Kentucky. His interests include behavioral ecology with an emphasis on territoriality and developing introductory laboratories designed to encourage females in science. Before coming to Alverno, he taught at the University of St. Mary in Kansas and Transylvania University in Kentucky.
