High School Admissions

About Me:

I’ve held many titles in my professional life, including business owner, marketing coordinator, PR chair on a board of directors, admissions counselor, and my current position as the Associate Director of Undergraduate Admissions -- but there’s none that I’m more proud of than being “mumma” to my super awesome five-year-old daughter Khloe. As an alumna of Alverno, service and giving back to the community have become part of who I am, so Khloe and I spend much of our time volunteering in our vibrant Bay View community. While at home, I enjoy cooking, sewing and humoring myself by making things I find on Pinterest.

What makes Alverno stand out among other colleges?

Alverno’s unique and highly effective ability based curriculum provides a learning experience that students just won’t get elsewhere. Alverno students master abilities that make them the best possible versions of themselves, professionally and personally.

Why I am passionate about Alverno:

Through my experience as an undergraduate student, I can say that Alverno changed my life in so many positive ways. I don’t think I’d be the woman, mother, or professional I am today had I not attended Alverno. The Alverno experience goes far beyond academics and develops women into strong, independent contributors to the world. In this job I’ve had the privilege of seeing that transformation happen in many students, and it’s truly amazing to witness.

My advice for potential Alverno students:

Get on campus! Visiting Alverno is the best way to decide if it's the right fit for you. A college education is an investment, so I’d strongly encourage you to explore your options and make sure you have all the information you need to make the best decision for yourself. We can provide you with many experiences to help you make that decision. I hope to see you on our beautiful campus soon!

About Me:

I'm a curious person, so I love new experiences – locally and on a global scale. In the past ten years my husband and I have traveled to Alaska, Costa Rica, the Bahamas, Italy and Ireland. I'm hoping Thailand will be next. I am a huge fan of the wintertime, so you will never hear me complain about the cold!

What makes Alverno stand out among other colleges?

One unique thing about Alverno is the individualized relationships that are fostered between instructors and students. If a student has trouble understanding course material, typically the instructor will see it as a challenge to adjust their teaching to best suit the student’s learning style. It is difficult to explain to people how special Alverno is, but the minute you step on campus you will feel it.

Why I am passionate about Alverno:

Being one of the most diverse colleges in the state makes us proud, and it provides daily opportunities for the entire Alverno community to celebrate each other’s differences and commonalities.  Developing a global perspective is required of all students, and by mastering this skill students are able to broaden their horizons – which will serve them well beyond their college years.

My advice for potential Alverno students:

Strive to be the best possible version of yourself. Just be you, but be the you that gets involved in student organizations, makes friends in every class, and expresses goals openly and often. Most importantly, be the you that firmly believes in immeasurable possibility. You can do this, especially when you have an entire community behind you.

High School Admissions

About Me:

I was born and raised in Milwaukee. I am a proud alum of Reagan High School and Alverno College.

What makes Alverno stand out among other colleges?

Our classroom setup encourages students to socially interact with one another. We do not have desks or giant lecture halls, but tables where students can sit to feel included within the learning environment.

Why I am passionate about Alverno:

Our unique grading system is based on helpful feedback instead of a single letter grade. I cannot think of any aspect of my life where my family, coworkers or peers have given me a letter grade for my efforts, ethic or friendship. That just isn’t reality! Alverno gives women the tools to succeed in their careers and life.

My advice for potential Alverno students:

Take advantage of any and ALL opportunities thrown at you! Studying a new language, studying abroad, or even living on campus – do not let fear stand between you and greatness.

High School Admissions

About Me:

I’m a Milwaukee native and a proud graduate of MPS. I was a first-generation college student and came straight to Alverno after graduating high school. When I first enrolled, I was shy, and I never spoke up in class. My experiences here gave me the confidence to speak my mind.

What makes Alverno stand out among other colleges?

Alverno stands out because of its faculty. Your teachers here will always be open for conversation, and they take the time to really learn who you are – which comes in handy when you need a reference for a job or graduate school.

My advice for potential Alverno students:

Alverno is an all-women’s college, which definitely has its benefits: you will be learning in a supportive atmosphere, and you will have the space to develop your leadership skills. My advice for you is to make the most of these unique opportunities.
