EMBRACING THE SPIRIT OF POPE FRANCIS!
Tuesday, October 28

Pope Francis invites us to see leadership as service, to engage a social Gospel, and to experience mercy as the core message of Christianity. Come and ponder his challenging words which can lead to a deeper personal encounter with Jesus, “...who is waiting for us with open arms.” We will explore these concepts mainly through his writing Evangelii Gaudium (The Joy of the Gospel). It is helpful but not necessary to have read this writing beforehand.

JOLLY OLD ST. NICHOLAS, CAROLS, AND CRÈCHES
The Origins of our Advent and Christmas Customs
Monday, November 17

Each year Christians mark the celebration of the Nativity of Jesus with many customs. But the event wasn’t always celebrated this way. In this class, we’ll begin with a brief look at the Gospels of Matthew and Luke and their account of the birth of Jesus. Then we’ll travel forward through history in this informative and fun look at the development of the ways we celebrate. It will give you a new understanding of the “happiest season of all.”
