FLOCK TO HORICON MARSH—BOAT CRUISE DAYTRIP
Saturday, May 4
Considered one of the nation’s top birding spots, Horicon Marsh is a state and federal wildlife refuge welcoming up to 300,000 migrating birds each spring and fall. Blue herons, cranes, ducks, geese, pelicans and other birds that have spent the winter in warmer climes have easy access to open water for fishing before they continue their journey north to their nesting areas in Canada. The United Nations has recognized Horicon Marsh as a “Wetland of International Importance.”
You will watch a short video before the 2-hour narrated cruise which provides an intimate view of the marsh as the pontoon boat drifts silently through the shallows. Be sure to bring your binoculars and camera. Bring your gift list, too as sales of gift shop items help to support the work of the Horicon Marsh.
Your delightful lunch will be held in Mayville at the Audubon Inn, a Victorian Inn and restaurant. Staff will present a short history of the inn and provide access to guest rooms for a quick peek. Preselect your lunch from three entrée choices: Chicken Fricassee over garlic mashed potatoes, Pan-seared Tilapia over brown rice pilaf, or Penne Pasta with pesto cream and peas. Dessert and beverage are also included.

FIELD MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY—CHICAGO DAYTRIP
Includes Special Exhibits of Designer Maria Pinto and Lascaux Cave Paintings
Saturday, April 20
Once known as the Columbian Museum of Chicago, the Field Museum opened in 1894 in Jackson Park for the World’s Columbian Exposition; it was renamed in honor of Marshall Field, who donated the generous sum of over $1 million. Sue the T-Rex greets visitors in the Main Hall and welcomes you to explore the museum’s vast permanent collections which include: Dinosaurs, Ancient Egypt, North American Indians, Ancient Americas, Mammals, Gems and more.
Your admission to the museum also includes two special exhibits, Fashion & the Field Museum Collection (with creations by Chicago designer Maria Pinto) and Scenes from the Stone Age Cave Paintings of Lascaux. You will experience the thrill of walking through a painstakingly recreated Lascaux cave with life-sized replicas of the artwork and life-like stone-age family. Videos explain how Paleolithic people lived and how the cave paintings were made. The cave of Lascaux, located in southwest France, contains paintings that are considered the world’s premier example of prehistoric art, created more than 20,000 years ago.
The Corner Bakery Restaurant—featuring a variety of soups, salads and sandwiches—is located within the museum where you can eat at your convenience and on your own time.

FROM “HALLOWED GROUND” TO A HOLY CHAPEL—GREEN BAY DAYTRIP
Saturday, March 23
Join a pilgrimage to the “hallowed ground” of Lambeau Field Stadium, home of the 13-time World Champion Green Bay Packers. Touted as one of the most legendary stadiums in the National Football League, the stadium tour is a thrill for anyone as you walk down the same tunnel used by players on gameday. Learn about the storied history of the team and visit the Packers Hall of Fame, representing more than 90 years of memorable people and events.
After the Lambeau tour, we’ll eat lunch at Café Chanson in Chateau de Pere overlooking the Fox River. You will select from Croque Monsieur/Madame Sandwich, French Club Sandwich or Trois Fromages Crepe. All are served with salad, dessert and beverage. (Please indicate your choice when you register.)
Next, we will visit the Chapel of Our Lady of Good Help in Champion. Here, in 1859, young Adele Brise saw a lady in white standing between two trees. The lady revealed herself as the Queen of Heaven, giving Adele a mission to share religious instruction with immigrant children and extending her blessing and protection. In 2010, after two years of Vatican investigation, Bishop Ricken of Green Bay gave official church approval of the apparitions. We will visit the chapel, crypt and grave of Sr. Adele.

MUSEUM OF WISCONSIN ART DAYTRIP—WEST BEND’S BEST KEPT SECRET
Saturday, June 1
Founded in 1961, the Museum of Wisconsin Art in West Bend will unveil a new building in April. Be one of the first to view the newly installed collection of Wisconsin Regional Art and the most comprehensive collection of works by Milwaukee-born artist Carl von Marr (1858-1936). Von Marr studied in Europe and spent several years as Director of Munich’s Art Museum; his most famous painting, The Flagellants, is one of the largest oil on canvas paintings in the US (14’ x 23’) and recently returned from an exhibition in Germany.
You’ll enjoy a private tour with the museum’s curator and assistant director, Graeme Reid, as we explore the museum’s new home and exhibits. The collections include work by historical and contemporary Wisconsin artists, as well as the astounding Walter A. Zinn Dollhouse, begun in 1911 for Zinn’s daughter. You’ll also have time to browse the gift shop before leaving.
After our tour, you will enjoy a choice of three lunch options at Timmer’s Resort on the east side of Big Cedar Lake. Lunch includes dessert and beverage—no extra charge for the view!
