We’ll discuss his leadership and consider the roles of his colorful cabinet and of influential women of that era, including Kate Chase and Clara Barton. We’ll also consider Jennifer Chiaverini’s novel, Mrs. Lincoln’s Dressmaker—which brings Elizabeth Keckley’s story to life—as well as the recent film, Lincoln. By looking back at the past, you’ll gain a better understanding of what it means to be a woman today in 21st century America.
