Student Email Issues Resolved

11/12/12 8:30 a.m. update:  We are continuing to keep our work-around in place since it appears the global DNS server issue has not been resolved.  If you experience any delays in emails from faculty or staff to students, please contact helpdesk@alverno.edu.

---------------

11/9/12 1:00 p.m. update: Microsoft has confirmed that there is a problem with the global DNS servers; this was causing our delayed email.  Microsoft is working with the Global DNS managers to resolve this issue, and Alverno has a work-around in place for the moment.

---------------

11/9/12 11:00 a.m. update:  All the delayed email from yesterday and today should have been delivered in the last half hour.  However, there is still an underlying problem which we are working with Microsoft to resolve.  New emails sent to students from faculty or staff may still experience a delay.

---------------

We have been noticing issues with Microsoft's live@edu email service yesterday and today (Thursday and Friday).  Students can log into their mail boxes, and it appears, receive “internal” messages (that is, email sent from one student to another student).  However, it appears that "external" messages, for example messages from Alverno faculty and staff to students, are sometimes being delayed.  We are contacting Microsoft about this problem.
