Services We Provide
The Technology Services Department provides computing resources for faculty, staff and student use.
Facilities available for general instructional use include the Computer Center in the Teaching Learning and Technology building, three computer classrooms in the Christopher Hall, three in the Liberal Arts building, and mobile computer carts for classroom use.
Tech Services staff also provide support for computers in a variety of discipline-specific labs such as the Clinical Nursing Resource Center, the Media Hub, Natural Science labs and the Music Technology Studio, as well as in the Austin and Clare Hall computer labs.
Network Infrastructure – Complete management of the Alverno Campus network including but not limited to the copper and fiber physical network, various routing, switching and hub devices, Firewall services and the connection to Alverno’s ISP.
Telecommunications Infrastructure – Complete management of a Northern Telecomm PBX with over 500 telephone sets and Voice Mail system.
Email / Calendaring System(s)
- Microsoft Exchange Server used by Alverno faculty and staff for communications and personal calendar/reminder functions including browser-based access.
- Web Mail / IMAP / SMTP server used by Alverno students
Facilities Room Scheduling System – Browser based scheduling system used for reserving and tracking of the various classrooms, meeting rooms and facilities on campus.

File Server Infrastructure
- 16 Windows 2000 Servers

Backups – Network data backup of Windows and Linux Servers.
Intranet / Internet Services – Two separate servers to handle both Internet accessible and Intranet (internally) accessible information.
Remote Access Services – 22-line, 28K dial-in services for faculty and staff.
Faculty / Staff Desktop Computing – Installation and support of over 500 desktop computing systems running Windows operating system, as well as standard installation and support of desktop productivity software.
Network and Deskjet Printers – Support of approximately 105 Lexmark and Hewlett Packard networked printers and over 30 inkjet printers.
AntiVirus Management – Desktop computing systems using Symantec Norton AntiVirus Corporate Edition software with remotely administered virus protection settings.
Help Desk – Email-enabled, client-based system for the acceptance, assigning and tracking of Faculty and Staff help desk requests.
