Convocation

The meaning of Convocation or convocare is to call together. Alverno College holds two ceremonies, one for weekday students and one for weekend students.

Each semester Alverno College President Mary Meehan calls the community together to welcome the new students and announce the beginning of a new semester.

Speakers from the Alverno community also welcome the students and offer words of advice and encouragement. New students are then honored and inducted into the community by receiving a certificate and pin. Afterwards everyone is invited to join in the celebration during a reception.
