Research Center for Women and Girls

The Alverno College Research Center for Women and Girls is devoted to taking scholarly research out of the world of academia and into the real world where it can inspire, transform and support initiatives that improve the lives of women and girls in Wisconsin and beyond.

The Status of Girls in Wisconsin Report

The Research Center is best known for the Status of Girls in Wisconsin Report, a review of the best available data on major issues affecting girls' lives, including education, health, and potentially risky behaviors.

Evaluate Programs

The Research Center, in collaboration with Alverno College departments, assists non-profit organizations with evaluating data regarding program effectiveness as well as planning for future program assessment.

Identify emerging research topics

The Research Center’s research is driven by issues that matter to girls and women today, including such topics as participation in math and science careers and bullying prevention.  For example the Research Center’s publication Bullying: A Prevention Toolkit answers common questions about bullying, outlines action-oriented tips for parents, educators and community members and provides resources for learning more about the topic.
