48 Reasons to Attend a Women's College

A women's college offers unparalleled opportunities to excel and achieve. Statistics consistently prove that a women's college education works. Graduates earn more in their careers, graduate sooner, and attend graduate schools in higher numbers than their counterparts who attend co-ed institutions.

48 reasons to attend a women's collegeHere at Alverno College, we've come up with our own 48 compelling reasons to attend a women's college.  We've included some statistics, facts and examples of women's college graduates you may know. (Click on the image above).

In a July 2006 study by the Indiana University Center for Postsecondary Research, researchers found that students at women's schools spend more time on productive activities, so they gain more from their college experience than women at co-ed institutions. They also found that women's colleges:

  • offer more challenging academic experiences leading to more integrative learning
  • provide more support for success
  • are more "transfer-friendly" for students
  • encourage more student-faculty interaction
  • strive to foster understanding of self and others.

The study supports the well-known facts that students from women's colleges attain more prominent leadership positions and more responsibility than women from co-ed schools later in life.

These examples only scratch the surface. Attending a women's college such as Alverno has everything to do with self-discovery, self-fulfillment and self-satisfaction. As a women’s college, Alverno offers the environment and support systems to help you achieve your full potential.
