Adult and transfer students find Alverno a comfortable learning environment, in part, because there are so many women of similar age and background. They also share their professional and/or educational experiences in hands-on, discussion-oriented classrooms.
Weekday College for Adult and Transfer Students
Weekday College courses are offered Monday through Friday primarily during the day, although occasional evening courses are available. Students can attend Weekday College full-time (12 - 18 credits) or part-time (less than 12 credits). Courses are conducted in bigger blocks of time fewer days of the week to accommodate busy schedules and those who may be working and attending school.
Approximately 1883 students attend Weekday College. They are diverse in age, ethnic, religious and cultural backgrounds. Ages range from 18 to 64, with the average age of 24. Most students come from the Milwaukee area; however, Alverno has students from as far away as California, Texas and Florida.
Admission Process
- Complete the application either on-line or by using our paper application. You can request a paper application by e-mailing or calling our admission office.
- Arrange for the Admissions Office to receive:
- Your official high school transcript or GED scores
- Your official college transcripts from all colleges attended (if applicable)
- Contact your admission counselor to schedule the communication placement assessment. The communication placement assessment is a self-paced assessment assisting us in selecting the most appropriate courses for you to take. It is given on certain Wednesday evenings, Saturday or Sunday mornings or by individual appointment Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Criteria for Admission
Generally, eligibility for admission is based on a combination of the following factors:
- Graduation from an accredited high school or passing score on the test for the General Education Development certificate
- Completion of the Communication Placement Assessment
- For transfer students, good academic standing at colleges previously attended. For those who do not meet this criteria, admission will be based upon the performance on reading and writing sections of the Communication Placement Assessment.

- For those who have not attended college and are more than three years past high school graduation, the reading and writing sections of the Communication Placement Assessment will be used with transcripts to assess admission.
