Why Give to Alverno?

Why Give to Alverno?

With a record enrollment and facilities originally created to serve a substantially smaller number, we grapple with issues of space and how we can best serve our students. When we opened our doors at our current location in the mid-1950s, Alverno was built for 800 students. Since that time, enrollment has grown to nearly 3,000 while only two campus buildings have been added.

The rapid pace of technology and the needs of a growing traditional-aged student body also create unique challenges – but our challenges can be your opportunity.

  • GROWTH – Enrollment has jumped 44% since 2001, making us Wisconsin’s fastest growing college. Additional scholarship funding and classroom space are essential to accommodate an enrollment that will soon exceed 3,000 students.
  • TECHNOLOGY – We have outstanding science labs, student computer resources and more. Our library, however, remains very much the way it looked when it opened in 1953. We need modern library resources that blend digital and text resources and provide room for individual and group research efforts.
  • STUDENT LIFE RESOURCES – As our enrollment of traditional-aged undergraduate students has grown, we need expanded residence halls, dining and fitness facilities to enrich student life on campus and build an even stronger campus community.
  • COMMUNITY RESOURCES – We work with nearly 40 local schools in southeast Wisconsin to help improve teaching and learning. With more donor support, we can do even more to help schools in our community succeed.
