Jennifer Geigel Mikulay is the associate dean of the Communication and Technology division of the School of Arts and Sciences at Alverno College, where he has taught since 2010. She teaches media studies and journalism courses. Prior to coming to Alverno, Mikulay was an assistant professor and public scholar of civic engagement at the Herron School of Art and Design at Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis.

Mikulay has given numerous presentations and sat on many panels across the country on student-generated video for Wikipedia, public art, and social media. She has also done interviews with the Chronicle of Higher Education, FOX 6, and several arts-related blogs on topics ranging from community participation in contemporary art to the social media gender gap. Her research has been published in the Journal of Modern Craft and Public Art Dialogue.

Mikulay earned her Master of Arts in political science from Rutgers University. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in visual culture studies in 2007. She is the WikiProject Public Art coordinator for the Milwaukee Arts Board, and has served as a research project mentor for the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee Office of Undergraduate Research.
