Alverno
College Campus Beautification Initiative
The campus of Alverno College has undergone major changes to enhance
and highlight its beauty. Through new landscaping and the addition
of a 500-car parking garage, the initiative created more dramatic
entrances and campus cornerstones, consolidated parking lots to
create more green space, and formed a new outdoor campus center
around which students, faculty, staff, alumnae, and guests can
gather. In addition, NCAA-regulation fields for soccer and softball
have been built in the southwest corner of campus to support Alverno’s
expanding athletics program.

The project was funded by a gift from the Reiman Foundation. Roy
Reiman, is a trustee of Alverno College and the founder of Reiman
Publications. He and his wife Bobbi have supported several other
initiatives at Alverno, including the renovation of the gymnasium
in 2002 and funding for the Alverno Scholars of Wisconsin, which
provides scholarships to women from different counties throughout
the state.
“We're grateful that we were able to do something like this.
There aren't many chances in life where you can dynamically change
the appearance and appeal of an entire college campus, and have
the attractive results last for such a long time,” Mr. Reiman
said.
“We are very excited about the campus transformation that
has taken place and we thank Bobbi and Roy for their vision and
generosity,” said
Marc McSweeney, a partner with Foley &
Lardner and the chair of the Alverno Board of Trustees.
“This gift puts Alverno in an excellent position to attract
further support to help to extend the positive impact Alverno
College has on the community and its students,” McSweeney
said.
Though the gift amount is not being disclosed at the request of
the donor, it is the largest in Alverno’s 118-year history.
Updates for Alverno neighbors
Alverno was committed to keeping the neighbors informed and updated
as the beautification project progresses. To date, the following
letters have been sent to Alverno's neighbors.
Note: The first architectural rendering
above is of the proposed campus entrance. The second is of the proposed
campus circle. Uihlein Wilson Architects was chosen to handle
this project.
