You've been thinking about making a change. You can see yourself in a classroom. But the vision is a world away and you aren't quite sure how to get there. The path just became a lot easier.
At Alverno College, you can now receive a special education teaching license while balancing the rest of your busy life. We stay flexible with classes every other weekend, and you'll be leading your own class within two years. Want to keep going and pursue a Master's Degree? You'll need just three more courses.
We give you the tools to ensure you do more than just survive. You'll excel. Just ask the United States Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan. The head of U.S. education praised Alverno in a recent national speech for its retention rate. 85% of our teachers are still in classrooms five years later.* Best of all, your prospect of finding a job is better than good. The Bureau of Labor statistics estimates that in the next 10 years, this field is expected to increase by 17%.
More children with special needs keep coming through the doors, and as a result, districts are in need of qualified special education teachers. We think they are looking for you.
* Cited in a national study, "Educating School Teachers"
by Arthur Levine, who noted the national average is 50%.
