Many Areas of Study
A rich diversity of major and minor areas of study prepares you to combine your talents, your skills and your interests to make an impact on your life and on the world around you.
A quality education that lasts a lifetime
Our accredited, ability-based curriculum ensures that you will learn more in class and retain more knowledge longer. It’s no coincidence that 84% of our graduates are employed in their field of study within nine months of completing their degree.
We are nationally ranked for our unique approach to teaching. Our ability-based curriculum is part of your Alverno experience. You will develop and master the abilities of: communication, analysis, problem solving, valuing, social interaction, developing a global perspective, effective citizenship and aesthetic engagement.
We are committed to having one of the lowest private college tuitions in Wisconsin. Both the Admissions and Financial Aid offices will help you navigate the financial aid process, from scholarships to grants. 100% of our full-time undergraduate students who filed, on time, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and demonstrated need for assistance received financial aid from the college’s more than $36 million financial aid program in 2009-10.
Alverno offers an inclusive and rich community experience composed of students from diverse backgrounds, ages, experiences and ethnicities – all learning, side-by-side, with and from each other.
92% of our faculty has earned the highest degree available in their field. You’ll encounter a uncommonly personalized approach to learning with direct access to instructors who have a passion for teaching and are invested in your success. When given your instructor’s contact information, answers about an assignment are just a phone call or an email away.
Professional Academic Advisors
Our highly skilled academic advisors are professionally trained to help you develop a learning plan and career path for your future. They also partner with faculty advisors to help you navigate your educational experience.
We require at least one off-campus internship beginning your junior year. The hands-on learning associated with this nationally ranked program gives you time to experience the career path you’ve selected before completing your academic work. It’s a great opportunity to begin building a professional network that can help launch your career.
Broaden your horizons and gain a global perspective in our study abroad program. A leader among Wisconsin’s liberal arts colleges, our study-abroad program offers opportunities to study in countries around the world, including England, Japan, Mexico and France.
As a transfer student, we recognize the work you may have already done in your college career and welcome the opportunity to work with you to maximize your completed coursework. We offer generous transfer credit policies and personalized attention to help make the transition easy.
Diagnostic Digital Portfolio
With our patented Diagnostic Digital Portfolio, you can monitor learning progress by storing assignments, projects and presentations, and creating a digital archive of your own academic journey. Use it as an electronic resume for potential employers or graduate school.
Our campus community is warm, energetic and friendly. Our campus life is like no other. Whether or not you reside on campus, we provide opportunities to engage with other students in comfortable, relaxed settings. Take advantage of a host of activities, social gatherings, sporting and special events, the fitness center or the beauty of our 46-acre campus located in the Jackson Park neighborhood.
Austin Hall and Clare Hall offer you the opportunity to live the complete college experience. From first-year students to upper-level and nontraditional-age students, our residence halls are designed to facilitate a safe, healthy and enjoyable living-learning environment that promote your spiritual, social and academic wellbeing.
