Through the Alverno College Institute for Educational
Outreach, Alverno faculty and staff work with educators from all
levels, K-12 through professional schools. They draw on more than
30 years experience in designing and refining an ability-based curriculum.
They share their theory and practice of performance-based assessment
of student learning as well as their approach to program and institutional
assessment of learning outcomes.
Workshops
As a vehicle for work with educational
colleagues, the Alverno College Institute for Educational Outreach
offers one
day seminars each semester and three-day and weeklong
summer workshops on assessment. All workshops offer participants the experience of a dynamic, innovative, and hospitable institutional learning culture. Participants also interact and collaborate with educators from around the world. View previous workshop participants.
SEWAC and Project CALL
Workshops designed to support schools and districts in the greater Milwaukee area to use formative classroom assessment to support student learning.
Publications
Alverno faculty and staff have written and spoken extensively on ability-based education, institutional change processes, assessment theory and practice and have a range of publications related to teaching, learning and assessment available.
Education Consultation Services
Drawing on more than 30 years of shared experience in curriculum development and institutional transformation, Alverno faculty and staff work with educational institutions, nationally and internationally, to help transform their theory and practice of teaching, learning and assessment and revise their organization structures.
If you are interested in having Alverno consult with your institution, we will work with you to conduct custom-designed presentations based on your specific needs. Alverno faculty will help you to examine internal and external motivators for curriculum change and will address what goes on within and outside of the classroom.
Starting from your current philosophy of teaching and learning, Alverno's knowledgeable faculty and staff will work with you and your team to develop student outcomes. They will also help to identify and clarify best practices so that you can build on them as you refine shared outcomes.
Consultation Fees:
Off-campus consultations: $1,300 per faculty per day, plus travel and expenses. Materials are included.
Consultations held at Alverno College: Fees are assessed according to size of group.
Additional fees may be assessed as necessary if Alverno College publications are included in the handouts.
