Learning Outcomes Studies Educational Research and Evaluation

Since 1976, the Alverno College Educational Research and Evaluation Office (ERE) has been conducting ongoing research on student learning outcomes. ERE began tracking entire classes of students, from entry to graduation and up to five years after college. Alverno College studies continue to examine relationships among teaching, learning and assessment in general education and across different major fields, investigating deep and durable learning, development and performances.

  • Alverno College also has begun collecting data on its student perceptions through participation in NSSE — the National Survey of Student Engagement. Alverno's Academic Affairs office and ERE have collaborated to assist faculty and staff to use NSSE data for improving student learning. This report (pdf) reviews our data and helps prospective students and their families use NSSE results to choose a college and learn about new strategies faculty have designed to foster even more student engagement.
