Counseling & Health Services strongly recommends that you have adequate health insurance coverage.

If you are currently uninsured, here are some more options to consider:

  • If you are under the age of 26, you could be eligible to be on your parent(s)’ insurance plan.
  • If you are employed, contact your Human Resources Department to see if you are eligible for insurance.
  • You can search plans offered by nation-wide carriers through www.einsurance.com.  This site allows you to compare plans to find the coverage you are looking for.
  • Check your eligibility for plans offered through the state of Wisconsin:  www.access.wisconsin.gov.

If you will be living on campus, we strongly suggest that you bring your insurance card, or a copy of it, when you move in.  Talk with your parents about how to use your insurance card, any applicable co-pays/fees for services, and how to make an appointment with your doctor.  If you are from outside of the Milwaukee area you should understand which Milwaukee providers are covered by your insurance plan.  There are two hospitals and several urgent care facilities that are on a bus route or can be reached by taxi.

Note: In case of a life-threatening emergency on campus, call 9-911; then contact Security at x6911.
