InternshipsMost people learn best by doing. Over the past 30 years, Alverno College’s internship program has developed this educational principle to a high art. Experience IS the best teacher! Alverno student interns are engaged in meaningful
professional activities under the supervision and guidance of an
on-site mentor. Regular consultation and evaluation among Alverno
faculty and staff, the internship mentor and the student intern
keep the learning experience on track. At Alverno, internships are seen as a continuation of the learning that takes place on campus and are integrated into the curriculum. Students earn academic credit for successfully completing both the internship and an accompanying on-campus seminar. The student’s work experience in internships neatly complements what goes on in Alverno’s highly interactive classrooms. Because students have practice in applying what they learn, they find it easy to move from the classroom to the workplace.
