The Communication
Resource Center
The Communication Resource Center provides one-on-one,
drop-in assistance and half-hour appointments to students seeking
advice or guidance on their writing, speaking or reading assignments.
Specially trained students staff the Center; they have been recommended
as assistants by faculty because of their success in communication
and their ability to work with others.
The primary purpose of the Communication Resource
Center is to help students with their writing, speaking or reading
assignment by conferencing with them and responding to their individual
questions and concerns. Working collaboratively with the student,
the Communication Resource Center assistant provides input regarding
prewriting and brainstorming, mapping, establishing thesis statements,
developing and organizing ideas, revising, analyzing and comprehending,
or proofreading and editing. The assistant offers suggestions, but
the student makes the final decisions regarding her assignment.
The Communication Resource Center is located in the Computer Center,
so the student has access to word processing and other software
applications that support the writing, speaking and reading processes
and a place to practice her oral presentations.
The Communication Resource Center is located inside
the Computer Center, Room TL109D.
